EDO GLASS
Edo glass (江戸硝子, Edo-garasu) is a traditional Japanese glassmaking craft that originated during the Edo period (1603–1868) in Tokyo, then known as Edo. This artisanal technique involves hand-blowing glass, and it is known for its vibrant colors, delicate patterns, and skilled craftsmanship. Edo glass is often used for creating everyday items like cups, bowls, and vases, as well as for intricate cut glass (Edo kiriko), where patterns are carved into the surface. The art reflects the aesthetics and precision of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, and it was designated as a national traditional craft in Japan.
